- Remove the container lid if you prefer.
- Rotate the rear rod 90 degrees horizontally, then rotate
the L Bracket/Spring Bracket to the back. Extend the rods 36" for BUBCA I and 24" for BUBCA II, (the rods are 48"
long when extended fully) using caution not to pull too hard as they can break. They fit into the rear corner just beyond
vertical on two axis (the side & rear).
- Rotate the front rods up past vertical and into position but do not extend
yet.
- Open the netting and place around the rear support rods while resting the inside of the backstop top on the
tips of the rods. The Backstop is the Outer Most part which places all 4 rods on the inside of the backstop.
- At each
end of the netting there are loops that fit over the front rods. Do so while extending the front rods until they are up with
the tip of the net, near the tip of the rod at each end, 26" or 36" respectively.
- Place the long plastic
coated wires through the top tips of each rod in the back, on OPPOSITE CORNERS where there is a 3mm hole. The front rods have
an additional loop associated with the netting corner on the top where the X shall be placed through, prior to the tip of
the rod. This forms an X under the top netting and forcing each support rod into their respective corner. Right front and
left rear, left front and right rear supports.
- Smooth out the netting and adjust the support wires while placing the
bottom of the net outside the can and the small lip at the bottom back inside the can.
- If weather dictates install
the support braces at the base of each front to rear side telescoping rod.
- Device is ready to suck up your brass.
- Place unit with respect to shooter and the firearm ejection line. Each firearm line, weapon height, shooters height,
and length and angle of ejection is different, so you must locate the correct proximity to the net for each individual person
and firearm. Typically the distance ranges around 12" or so.
- Take a few shots and move your spot according to
the ejection path until you hit the effective area. This is a HUGE Funnel and you will find your sweet spot quite quickly.
- Not all semi-auto weapons eject directly to the side and may require a tune-up for the proper ejection path to deliver
the ejected casing to the net and into the can.
Dis-assembly is in the reverse order….
If
there is not a shooting bench or it is too low for the ejection path of the casing…attach a tripod to the already available
mounting hole at the mid point of the can bottom. It will accommodate a camera tripod and can be placed on the ground or on
the bench for extreme height. You may have to remove the can lid for balance.
Sometimes the weather doesn’t
accommodate us and the wind really blows. Put some weight into the can for anchorage. I personally carry all my ammo in the
can along with my safety glasses and hearing protection. There is plenty of room with the brass in the can.
The Extreme Wind Table Clamp and Components has now been added to the available parts list as an option, that will fit
any BUBCA for the purpose of locking the system to the table during extreme wind conditions (commonly found at Camp Perry
National Matches). The wind system has been tested in 30mph winds and has passed without issue. Photos are provided on the
website showing the components.
Just another BUBCA system improvement that we continuously re-evaluate so the
consumer gets the best product available to the shooting industry.
